EZ Living Apartment Website
Project Brief

The website's project name is EZ living and is designed to help people searching for a place to live. The intended audience is for people 17 or older who are surfing the web from a desktop, tablet, or mobile device.

Challenges

1.) People have trouble shopping for a place to live, because of their limited budget, schedule, or location.

2.) When using the website people want to be able to filter their search results.

3.) Users need a way to select there preferred language when looking for somewhere to live.

Solutions

1.) I have created this website to ease the burden of shopping for a place to live.

2.) A search filter needs to be created for users to narrow their search results.

3.) A language selection screen should be created for user's wanting to use a different language.

UX Process
Empathize- Get to know the user. What are their problems, wants, and needs? Be sure to conduct research through surveys, interviews, observations, and competitive audits.

Define- What are the most important problems your users have? Create a problem statement about what user needs your design will address.

Ideate- Design as many solutions as possible. Get together with stakeholders, engineers, other UXers and start brainstorming! After settling on a design, create a user flow to illustrate user interaction with the product.

Prototype- Use sketches, low fidelity prototypes, wireframes, and an early model prototype where you test the functionality of your design so far. You will hold design critique sessions that stake holders, managers, engineers and other UXers will be apart of to test the prototype and offer feedback.

Test- You can test the the prototype multiple times on multiple devices if need be. But the important thing is figuring out if the problem it was designed for is solved. If not, you may have to return to the prototype phase to make revisions to create a high fidelity prototype to test again after receiving feedback.

My Roles and Responsibilities

I was the UX designer in charge of designing the EZ Living apartment Website from start to finish. I was in charge of conducting user research, competitive audits, creating low & high fidelity prototypes and wireframes, mockups and, testing.

Early Ideas -

Information architecture

Wireframes

Mockups and accessibility improvements

After receiving feedback on my prototypes, I decided to address some accessibility concerns.

1.)  Creating a distinguishable homepage button (greenish blue) at the top of the website that the user could click to navigate back to the first page of the website.

2.)  Giving the user the ability to select their preferred language by selecting the menu button which produces a pop out menu.

3.) Giving user a filter to narrow their search results.

Conclusion

After conducting usability studies and creating mockups, the accessibility, navigation, and search concerns had been addressed. Further testing will be conducted to improve the products design.
